Team News: Lunch & Learns “How Not to Take Things Personally”

Lunch Learn img 1 min

Flourish brought back our monthly Lunch & Learns where each team member takes a turn leading the time together. This month Michele Lenz shared a topic originally inspired by the book The Four Agreements which highlights:

  • Agreement 1: Be Impeccable With Your Word
  • Agreement 2: Don’t Take Anything Personally
  • Agreement 3: Don’t Make Assumptions
  • Agreement 4: Always Do Your Best

Michele found a Tedx talk by Frederik Imbo on “How Not to Take Things Personally”. We had a fascinating conversation and loved hearing insights from each other on how this concept can apply to both our professional and personal lives.

Some of our key Team takeaways were:

  • Proactively provide thoughtful responses to team members
  • Ask for clarification to get more context
  • Assuming good intentions instead is better than reacting out of suspicion or reading into an email or voicemail
  • We are all in this together
